Compounding // Patient Information

What is compounding?

Medication compounding at our pharmacy is focused on creating customized medications to meet the specific needs of an individual patient (including your pets) when medications in forms or doses are not commercially available.

Compounding is often used when:

  • Standard medications are not suitable: For example, if a patient is allergic to an ingredient in a commercially available medication, or if a child requires a medication in a liquid form instead of a tablet.
  • Unique dosages are needed: Some patients may require a specific dose that is not available in regular prescriptions, such as a lower or higher dose.
  • Flavors or delivery methods are necessary: A medication might be compounded with a specific flavor to make it more palatable for children, or in a form like a topical cream or suppository if that’s what works best for the patient.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Printer’s Row Pharmacy focuses on ensuring that our patients get high-quality, safely compounded medications that maintain compliance with USP 795 & USP 800 standards. We source all our API’s (active pharmaceutical ingredients) from FDA registered distributors and each compounded medication undergoes a thorough quality check by our highly trained pharmacists.
